Gianella Neyra & Boxing Films Cycles and Halloween Night OCTOBER, STELLAR MONTH ON VIENDOMOVIES

ViendoMovies, the pay television movie channel owned by SOMOSTV (a company chaired by Luis Villanueva and part of SOMOS Group), which programs the best contemporary films produced in Spanish, 24 hours a day and without commercial breaks, celebrates during the month of October three stellar events: a cycle of films starring the famous Peruvian star Gianella Neyra, along with a cycle of films that have boxing as their theme, and finally the celebration of Halloween, a popular festivity in the United States and in many Latin American countries. These events reinforce the positioning of the channel, distributed in the United States and Puerto Rico, as a promoter of Latin American film talent, of the Spanish-language industry in general, and of the traditions and festivities celebrated by the Latino community.

The Gianella Neyra cycle will be held every Sunday of the month at 9:00 pm. Gianella Neyra is a famous Peruvian actress, television presenter, and former model. Among her roles, she is best known for having starred in television series and around 18 films. The first film of the cycle is Soltera, Casada, Viuda, Divorciada (Peru, 2023), a road comedy directed by Ani Alva Helfer. The story follows the reunion of four childhood friends who have taken different paths in life: one single, one married, one widowed, and one divorced. The cast includes Gianella Neyra, Katia Condos, Milene Vásquez, and Patricia Portocarrero. The film 7 semillas (Peru, 2016) continues the cycle, a dramatic comedy that became a box office success and starred Carlos Alcántara, Marco Zunino, Javier Cámara, Federico Luppi, and Gianella Neyra. On the third Sunday of the month, ViendoMovies presents the film Sobredosis de Amor (Peru, 2018). Sobredosis de Amor is a comedy directed by Jesús Álvarez Betancourt and starring Renzo Schuller, Gian Piero Díaz, and Gianella Neyra. The story of three lifelong friends—Jimena, about to marry Bruno; Juan Carlos, the most single of all with 116 women to his name; and Pietro, in search of his pink elephant, living a marital crisis with Sofía. Three roommates in an apartment, one bed, and a night full of alcohol. Finally, the cycle ends with Papá Youtuber (Peru,2019). In it, a father who is not very tech-savvy is fired by his new boss, a young millennial. In desperation to not lose his house and after finding out his wife is pregnant, he decides to become a YouTuber, for which he will need the help of his two misunderstood children. Directed by Fernando Villaran, the film stars Carlos Carlín, Gianella Neyra, Thiago Béjar, and Valentina Izquierdo.

The boxing film cycle takes place on Saturdays at 9pm. It begins with the film Alacrán Enamorado (2013, Spain), directed by Santiago Zannou and based on the novel of the same name written by Carlos Bardem. Julián (Álex González), Asterix (Javier Mancebo), and Luis (Miguel Ángel Silvestre) belong to a neo-Nazi group led by Solís (Javier Bardem). Love for Alyssa (Judith Diakhate) and boxing make Julián begin to change, something his friend Luis accepts. The second film of the cycle is the movie Sambá (2017, Dominican Republic), a sports drama about redemption through the metaphor of life and boxing, directed by Israel Cárdenas and Laura Amelia Guzmán and starring Laura Gómez, Ettore D'Alessandro, Algenis Perez Soto, and Jalsen Santana. On the third Saturday of the month, ViendoMovies presents El Chata (2018, Puerto Rico). This is the debut film of Gustavo Ramos, starring Alexon Duprey. Although Samuel has enough talent to be a champion, what fate has given him is to take punches, like a punching bag, so he ends up being a sparring partner at thirty years old. All he wants is to prove to himself and to others that he can change, win back his family, and earn his son's affection.  Finally, the cycle closes with Sangre en la boca(2016, Argentina), a film directed by Hernán Belón. It stars Leonardo Sbaraglia, Eva De Dominici, Érica Bianchi, Osmar Núñez, and Claudio Rissi. Ramón Alvia is a professional boxer who has won a few titles but is forty years old and at the end of his career. His family asks him to retire, but he feels young and is convinced he can continue, as if time had not taken its toll on him.

The month of October and its stellar programming ends with Halloween Night, on October 31. On this day, the channel only programs horror films, within the spirit of the festivity and highlighting among them Cementerio General 2 (2013, Peru), El Reino del Guardián (2014, Mexico), Los Inocentes (2020, Spain), Resort Paraíso (2017, Spain), El Pacto (2018, Argentina/Spain), and La Cara del Diablo (2014, Peru).
