ViendoMovies, the 24-hour channel of original cinema produced in Spanish, without commercial breaks and produced by SOMOSTV (a company part of SOMOS Group and chaired by Luis Villanueva), premieres this weekend the Chilean-Mexican thriller Inmersión (2022), movie awarded with three prizes (Best Film, Best Director and Best Cinematography) at the Guadalajara Film Festival, being also nominated as Best First Feature at the Haifa International Film Festival, the Miami Film Festival and the Tallin Back Nights Film Festival. ViendoMovies is recognized as the channel that programs the best of cinema originally produced in Spanish, with wide distribution in cable, satellite and telecommunications companies in the United States and Puerto Rico.
Inmersión is directed by Nic Postiglione and stars Consuelo Carreño, Alfredo Castro and Mariela Mignot. The film tells the story of Ricardo, a middle-class father, who with his two daughters sails on a remote and beautiful lake in Chile to visit the family’s vacation home, neglected for years and falling apart. Ricardo sees a group of men in a small boat in apparent danger and asking for help. Paralyzed by his paranoia, he turns his sailboat in the opposite direction, but his daughters wake up and call him out for his lack of compassion. Ashamed by their criticism, Ricardo returns to help the men. Unfortunately, one of the men is missing and feared to have drowned, and a tense search ensues, causing an ugly fear to spread among all parties. This leads to a chain of events that cannot be reversed.
Inmersión is part of the premieres of the month, which include Locos al Poder (Panama, 2019), 15 horas (2021, Dominican Republic) and La Boda de Rosa (2020, Spain), reflecting the geographical breadth of Spanish-language cinema. At the same time, and as part of its mission, the channel offers this month a cycle with actress Belén Rueda every Tuesday in October at 9 pm ET, with the films La Noche que mi Madre mató a mi Padre (Spain, 2016), Ismael (Spain, 2013), El Pacto(2018), No Tengas Miedo (2011) and No Dormirás (2017).
