MIAMI, FL., August 2024 - ViendoMovies, the 24 hr. film channel owned by SOMOSTV (a company chaired by Luis Villanueva and part of SOMOS Group) that programs the best films produced in Spanish, 24 hours a day and without commercial breaks, premieres this weekend the film La Balada de los Cuervos (The Ballad of the Crows, Dominican Republic, 2022), a recognized production that has won 6 awards at renowned Spanish-language film industry festivals, with several nominations at such events. La Balada de los Cuervos is a drama directed by Tony Bacigaluppe and starring, among other talents, Fidia Peralta, Mario Sepúlveda, Elvis Eliut, Paula Disla, Gerardo Mercedes, Laura Guzman, Pericles Mejía, Angel Valencia, and Isabel Spencer. The story centers on the life of Pablo, a young priest. Due to his revolutionary and dissenting ideals, Pablo is sent by the Vatican from Mexico to a rural area on the border between the Dominican Republic and Haiti. This is a desolate, dusty, and forgotten border town. There, Pablo meets a beautiful young prostitute, triggering a series of events and conflicts after discovering a network of human trafficking and corruption that will put his principles, vows, and credibility to the test. The film was awarded Best Film at the Bogotá Festival, the Dominican Film Festival, the Trinidad-Tobago Film Festival, as well as receiving recognitions at these and other events for the artistic talent of the production.
The premiere of La Balada de los Cuervos is part of ViendoMovies’ August programming, which includes the cycle of the Chilean star Alfredo Castro and the premiere of La Vida Padre (Spain, 2022).
