VIENDOMOVIES IN AUGUST WITH HIGH QUALITY CINEMA AND NOE HERNANDEZ CYCLE

MIAMI, Fl., August 2023 - ViendoMovies, the channel owned by SOMOSTV (a company chaired by Luis Villanueva and part of SOMOS Group) that programs the best movies produced in Spanish, 24 hours a day and without commercial breaks, presents in August a selection of new movies for the audience of the United States and Puerto Rico, while offering a film cycle dedicated to one of the most popular Mexican film stars, actor Noe Hernandez. The channel is characterized by programming high-quality contemporary cinema while promoting the talent of the Spanish-language film industry.

Among the channel’s premieres in August are El Inconveniente (Spain 2020), a comedy that deals with the vicissitudes of Sara, who is offered the perfect apartment. There’s only one problem: Sara can’t move in until the current owner dies. El Inconveniente, directed by Bernabé Rico, with Carlos Areces, Juana Acosta, Kiti Mánver and Daniel Muriel was nominated for three Goya awards, the Malaga Festival and the Forque and Feroz awards for Kiti Manver’s performance. Another of the premieres is Hotel Providencia (Venezuela, 2022), directed by Caupolican Ovalles, starring Socrates Serrano, Adelina Menéndez, Aroldo Betancourt and Sheila Monterola. The film tells the story of a crime: Sandra and Gerardo, who after receiving an unexpected inheritance, go on their honeymoon. Suddenly they decide to buy an under-construction hotel they find on a Caribbean island, where economic problems lead them down the wrong path. Finally, ViendoMoviespresents Lo que Siento por ti (Dominican Republic, 2018), directed by Raúl Camilo, a drama starring Frank Perozo, Nashla Bogaert, Félix Germán, Yordanka Ariosa and Luis José Germán, which tells three simultaneous stories of social inclusion: a mother of two autistic teenagers, a couple trying to have a child and the father of a Special Olympics athlete.

Noé Hernández Álvarez is an actor who has received wide recognition in Mexican cinema. He was born in Atitalaquía, Hidalgo and studied Dramatic Arts at the Autonomous University of the State of Mexico. After graduating in 1994, he became a high school teacher for seven years in Toluca and moved to Mexico City because he wanted to act in movies. His first leading role was Lino Valdez in Miss Bala, earning a nomination for an Ariel Award for Best Actor. In the film La Tirisia (2014) he won the Ariel Award for Best Supporting Actor. For his performance in the film El Más Buscado he received a Diosa de Plata nomination for Best Supporting Actor. In the Mexican film 600 Miles he won a second Ariel Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2016 and for his starring role in the film Ocho de Cada Diez he received the Ariel Award for best actor.

The Noe Hernandez cycle presented by ViendoMovies includes four high-profile films, which will be scheduled on Sundays at 9:00 pm (EST). The first of these films is Histeria, a thriller about the story of a shy architect who is the victim of a violent act. The pressure builds up until he is pushed to the limit of his own humanity. The cycle continues the following Sunday with La Habitación, a film that develops 8 important stories from Mexican history that begin with the dawn of the Mexican Revolution and ends with the country as a refuge for those displaced by violence. La Habitación was nominated for 4 Ariel Awards and won this recognition for Artistic Direction. On the third Sunday of August ViendoMovies presents En el Ombligo del Cielo, a comedy that features a young executive who gets trapped with a janitor over the weekend on the rooftop of the building where she works and where they reflect on their lives and value systems. Finally, as a golden brooch, the cycle ends with the film 8 de Cada 10, for which Noe Hernández received the Ariel as Best Actor. In it Aurelio and Citlali meet in a small hotel in Mexico City at the darkest moment of their lives. He has just buried his son, murdered in broad daylight, and seeks to have the police capture the killers. Citlali seeks to obtain a document that will allow her to recover her daughter. The search for justice soon turns into a desire for revenge. Little by little love grows between them as they forge a pact: to help each other do justice by their own hand.

With the latest in Spanish-language cinema and support for its stars, SOMOSTV’s channel fulfills its mission of representing a quality window for a cinema that is gaining increasing popularity and relevance in the industry.
