The channel schedules La Cima (Spain), directed by Ibon Cormenzana. In this thriller, Mateo (Javier Rey) faces for the first time the most dangerous mountain on the planet, Annapurna, with the challenge of reaching the summit and thus fulfilling an ancient promise. During his ascent, he suffers an accident that leaves him unconscious and seriously injured. This production of excellent cinematic quality was nominated for best film at the Malaga Festival (2022). This film is followed by the Venezuelan production Julia Tiene Sugar (2024). In this romantic comedy, Julia (Alejandra Sandoval), who is going through a bad time, loses her job due to the sexual harassment of her boss (Jackson Gutiérrez) and is evicted from her home when she also needs to take care of her father. Her best friend Mayeling (Estrella Hurtado) gets her a job as a stripper in a nightclub. There she meets Ricardo (Jorge Reyes), a successful divorce lawyer. Neither Ricardo nor Julia suspect that life will change forever for them. It is directed by Jose Antonio Varela and is a film production of Somos Films and Divarte Cine.
The Spring cycle continues with Los Dias Mas Oscuros de Nosotras (Mexico, 2017) directed by Astrid Rondero. The film, of the dramatic genre, was nominated for the Ariel Awards as best first opera (Astrid Rondero) and best actress (Sophie Alexander Katz). It tells the story of Ana, who returns to her hometown in Tijuana after many years of absence. If the death of her sister is only a fragmented memory, her childhood home is a real and conflicting presence, where distressing moments are relived. This film is joined by Las Consecuencias (Spain, 2021). This award-winning film, directed by Claudia Pinto, tells a journey to a small volcanic island, where Fabiola becomes a spy in her home. She has no evidence or certainties, but her intuition tells her that not everything is as it seems. Las Consecuencias was nominated at the Malaga Festival (2021) for Best Film and won the Critics’ Award, also recognizing the role of Maria Romanillos as Best Supporting Actress.
The Spring celebration also brings the film La Santa de lo Imposible (2020), starring the Peruvian star Magaly Solier. A murder, a police raid, and the photo of a mysterious girl: a young mother must piece together all these parts of the secret love life of her twin sons, to find out what happened to them. This production is followed by the recognized and award-winning Spanish film Uno para Todos (Spain, 2020). In Uno para Todos (directed by David Ilundain) Aleix, a substitute teacher takes on the task of tutoring a sixth-grade class in a town completely unknown to him. When he discovers that he has to reintegrate a sick student into the classroom, he encounters an unexpected problem: almost none of his classmates want him to return to class. Uno para Todos was recognized at the Goya Awards (2021) where it was nominated for Best Actor (David Verdaguer), won the recognition of the Cinema in Education and Values Award at the Forqué Awards (2020), and also received a nomination for Best Actor (David Verdaguer) at the Feroz Awards, who was additionally nominated at the Gaudí Awards as Best Actor.
