MIAMI, Fl., June, 2022 –ViendoMovies, the Spanish-language movie channel owned by SOMOSTV (company chaired by Luis Villanueva and part of SOMOS Group) that programs exclusive movies, 24 hours a day and without commercial breaks, presents on Sunday, June 19, a special program in commemoration of Father's Day, a holiday celebrated especially in the Latino community. The channel presents a cycle of movies with different genres to spend a day full of entertainment at home with the family. With films from South America and Spain, the channel programs a variety of films from different sources: En Las Estrellas (Spain), El Retiro (Argentina), Buscando al Zorro (Dominican Republic), Especial (Venezuela), Paper Boats (Mexico), Igualita a Mi (Argentina), El Chata (Puerto Rico), La Familia (Venezuela), and El Mejor Verano de mi Vida (Spain).
ViendoMovies has stood out for celebrating holidays with special programming, as well as traditional dates of the countries that make up the US Latin market and in Puerto Rico. Being the cinema one of the favorite forms of entertainment for Latinos, the channel uses its extensive library to program contemporary films produced in Spanish alluding to the most important dates.
To start Father's Day, En Las Estrellas is presented. This film, nominated for a Goya Award, tells the story of Victor, an alcoholic film director who is unemployed and terribly depressed by the death of his wife. However, he is still the best at telling fantastic stories to his nine-year-old son, Ingmar. Despite forming a great team, his problems will multiply when the others begin to question his role as his father. In the drama genre there is also Buscando al Zorro, a movie from the popular cinema in the Dominican Republic, where a single father offers him a job that forces him to travel far from home. Unable to leave his nine-year-old son alone, Pablo is forced to take him on an intense trip. Especial, a Venezuelan film winner at the Chicago Film Festival, is about Chúo, a charming young man with Down syndrome, who must navigate the challenges of adulthood, while seeking to build an independent life from his father, a frustrated percussionist, a refugee, in drink, but who loves him unconditionally.
For comedy fans, the channel brings El Retiro, Igualita a Mi, and El Mejor Verano de mi Vida. El Retiro is the story of Rodolfo (Luis Brandoni), a recently retired doctor. Since the death of his wife, he lives alone in his house. After an unexpected event, his daughter Laura, with whom he barely speaks, moves in with him for a few days, propitiating a reunion after many years. Igualita a Mi was the highest-grossing film in Argentina in the year of its production. It is about Fredy (Adrian Suar), a confirmed bachelor who lives basically at night. He is the archetype of the playboy: he does not have a permanent job and is an eternal seducer of twenty-somethings. He meets Aylin, who turns out to be his daughter and announces that he will be a grandfather.
To culminate the celebration of this day, El Mejor Verano de mi Vida tells the story of Curro (Leo Harlem), a fanciful kitchen robot salesman who dreams of a job in the financial world. In the middle of a couple crisis, and with heavy debts, he makes a promise that he cannot keep: take his son Nico to an unforgettable summer vacation. The boy and his father embark on a journey that will take them to meet people and experience situations they could never have imagined.
This selection of movies guarantees the audience of ViendoMovies a special Father's Day, with top-notch entertainment at home.
