MIAMI, FL., November, 2023 – Semillitas, the 24-hour commercial-free Spanish-language children's animation channel owned by SOMOSTV (a company presided over by Luis Villanueva), was recognized on Tuesday, November 14, at The American Council of the Blind's 2023 Audio Description Awards Gala for its Outstanding Achievement: Spanish Media (USA).

The American Council of the Blind is a national member-driven organization representing Americans who are blind or have low vision. For more than 60 years, ACB has been a leader in national, state, local, and international advocacy efforts. With 68 affiliates, ACB strives to increase independence, security, equality of opportunity, and the quality of life for all people who are blind or have low vision. The Audio Description Awards Gala was created in 2021 to recognize outstanding achievement in audio description in entertainment and educational media.

Semillitas received this award in recognition of its dedication to providing accessible content for blind and visually impaired individuals. Thanks to a collaborative effort between Somos TV, the U.S. Department of Education, and the Dicapta Foundation, all Semillitas programming offers Closed Captions and Audio Description.
